How To Improve Your communication skill

Have you ever wondered why it seems so difficult to talk to some people and so easy to talk to others?

Industries Helping Hands help you to improve your communication skills. Following are the few tips you must have to adopt:-

Listen to understand

Listening is one of the most important skills you can have. Listening is key to all effective communication, without the ability to listen effectively, messages are easily misunderstood. How well you listen has a major impact on your job effectiveness and on the quality of your relationships with others.  Just Listening to words is not enough; a good listener has to pay attention to the non-verbal communication of the speaker.

Eye contact

Industries Helping Hands says that “eyes are a reflection of your inner self” holds true in most cases. Eye contact is a form of body language which is important during communication. Making eye contact with individuals gives them a sense of involvement in your presentation and helps to convey your objectives on a personal level. A big part of eye contact is building trust. A person with whom you are talking will be more likely to trust and respect you as eye contact indicates an openness in communication.

Avoid interpretation

It happens to all people while communicating (speaking or writing), that they are unable to get their messages across and express what they mean and what they understand. Not everyone will draw the same conclusions from a given situation or set of information. Everybody interprets things differently. Make sure to check for other people’s interpretations, and be explicit about your own.

Always Have an Open Mind

Open-mindedness is not easy and requires concentration so as not to lead to cognitive dissonance when learning new thoughts that conflict with existing beliefs. It is important to look at different perspectives. It includes the understanding that sometimes your expertise can only go so far – and that’s okay. Other people’s views might be different from your own. Judgment and insistent on your own points of view is a large barrier to open effective communication. You should always allow people the chance to convince you of their ideas or points of view.

Simple language

Communication issues don’t always happen because of your English level. The truth is, you can know how to speak English without knowing how to communicate in English. Words are your tools, so it’s important to choose them carefully. Your ideas can be complex and sophisticated, but your writing should express them simply. It is important not only to think about what you say but how you say it. To communicate effectively, it is not enough to have well-organized ideas expressed in complete and coherent sentences and paragraphs.

Completeness

When you are communicating with someone, your message should be complete and supported with facts and explanations. It provides communication with all information, answers all questions that may be asked or may not be asked, and save time to a great extent. Making sure that the text is usable and accurate, and that important information can be quickly found and understood.

Constructive  Feedback

Feedback is essential in communication. Feedback is the response or reaction of the receiver after perceiving or understanding the message. Feedback is the only way to collect information from the receiver if the receiver doesn’t send a message of information. This gives the author not only insight into what is confusing the reader but also several options for fixing it.
